The following calls are samples of Luna echolocating in Nootka Sound. At times he can be heard echolocating almost constantly as he hunts. These sounds were recorded a few weeks ago.

The following calls were recorded in Nootka Sound in March 2004. They have been edited to fit into a smaller file.

Luna is very vocal. The calls tell us that he can still communicate with the L-Pod. They demonstrate that he is echolocating, a technique that orcas use to find fish. Luna is also sometimes heard mimicking sea lions. These calls indicate that Luna is a fabulous candidate to reunite with the L-Pod.
